Blackhawks – December Teacher of the Month

The Blackhawks would like to recognize Ms. Tasha Sisney of Healy Elementary as the December #HockeyScholar Teacher of the Month!

What grade/subject do you teach and how long have you been teaching? I have teach K-8 technology for Chicago Public Schools. I have been teaching for almost 10 years.

How are you using Hockey Scholar in your classroom? I using Hockey Scholar for my fifth grade classroom as an activity for them to complete once technology assignments are completed, and to incorporate the science, engineering, and math core subjects with technology.

What was your students’ reaction to the course? Did they enjoy learning STEM with the Blackhawks? Many of the students love hockey. Therefore, already being familiar with the sport and the Blackhawks, they were really excited to figure out how the course worked and learn new things.

Who is your favorite Blackhawks player? I pretty much like them all 🙂

Who in your life inspired you to become a teacher? I would definitely say that my 5th grade teacher’s love for teaching and kind acts that was demonstrated by her concern for her student’s well being inspired me. Additionally, I’ve ALWAYS loved children, and couldn’t see myself doing anything else but education in some form.

Would you be a defenseman, forward, or goalie? I would definitely be a goalie, always protecting and helping my team achieve their ultimate goal!
