Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I enjoy helping children learn. I also enjoy all of the things I learn from them.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

Too many to choose just one! Each day is a new adventure with children!

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

Future Goals aligns perfectly with Ohio Math and Science standards for 7th grade. The lessons are put together very well. The graphics are so amazing that the students feel like they are playing a video game. The real world applications are excellent too! I love the molecular representations of changing the air temperature and ice temperature to get the conditions for hockey just right. The lessons force students to think critically and problem solve. There are some lessons that are more about the human body and health that I usually use only for extra credit, since those parts do not align with 7th grade standards.  In the math program, students solve for areas to pull pieces of the basketball court up to reveal the ice, find circumference to paint the ice, and apply their knowledge of angles in several parts. This program could easily be used as a resource for Project Based Learning. All subject areas could be included. It is easy to track student progress as they work through the lessons and there are plenty of teacher resources. Students love to fill up their trophy case!  I do wish there was a minimum score required to earn a trophy though. Also, IT IS FREE! Teachers are always looking for affordable resources and often have to spend their own money on things. It is so wonderful that the Blue Jackets sponsor this program. My little hockey fans love it too!

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

They really enjoy it!
