Tell us about yourself!

I am originally from Madrid, Spain. I received my undergraduate degree in 1992, from Hamline University, with a major in Math and a minor in Education. I then went on to receive a Master of Education from the University of Minnesota in 1996. I worked for 19 years in 6th grade Spanish Immersion in Robbinsdale, then I worked 3 years in Spring Lake Park Spanish Immersion, and now I am back in Robbinsdale. My goal for this year is to help each student to achieve his or her maximum academic potential. I also hope that each student feels supported and cared for. I teach 5th grade Spanish Language arts , social studies (in Spanish) and math (in english) I have been teaching for 27 years. I became a teacher because I want each child to know they are special and important. I love teaching because I know school might be the best part of a child’s day. I love teaching because I know I can make a difference in my students lives.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Derek Boogard, he was a great left wing player (when on the wild team), and he was an enforcer.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I love how interactive it is, I love how my students are so enthusiastic about using the program, how it is related to Hockey, I have a lot of hockey players in my classroom (both boys and girls). I see STEM in hockey – area, perimeter of rink, statistics on plays/players, friction, speed, acceleration, velocity, there are many parts of the game of hockey that are reflected in STEM

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I played right wing a long time ago (not sure I can skate any more (haha), that was the position I was given.
