Tell us about yourself!

My name is Nathan Kube and I am a 4th grade teacher at St. Clair Elementary School. I have been teaching for 13 years. I taught 3rd grade 1 year, Special Education for 3 years, and I am in my 9th year as a 4th grade teacher. I love teaching because it is rewarding! I decided to become a teacher when I was 14 and teaching swimming lessons. The students always wanted me as their teacher which made me want to teach more than anything. When a student who is really struggling with a problem suddenly gets it you have a sense that you did something remarkable. I also love the challenge because each student learns differently. You really have to adapt to each students strengths. I also coach at the school which allows me to keep in touch with students from the past. I have always believed that building a strong rapport with students will work in your favor in the long run. Every student and player is special in their own way and when you can get them to play to their strengths their motivation increases.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Kirill Kaprizov. The guy seems like he’s the next Gretzky or Ovechkin!!!

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

It is challenged for the higher flyers. It seems that all of the students find something that they enjoy!
