Tell us about yourself!

I have been teaching for 15 years. I am currently a classroom teacher with 5th and 6th grade. I have also worked with Kindergarten through 12th grade students in small groups for Reading instruction. I wanted to become a teacher to help kids. I love working with kids and seeing their excitement for learning, and love to see when they make connections. This past summer for a family engagement project for our local church, we made cards and sent them to people we knew and some to people we do not know. We are huge Pittsburgh Penguins fans, and my husband and I went on one of our first dates to a Penguins game! Let’s GO PENS!

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Crosby has always been my favorite. I feel he has done so much for Pittsburgh. I think he has so much integrity on and off the ice.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I have always admired how much the Pittsburgh Penguins players and franchise do for kids, families, and communities. I love telling the kids how much the Penguins care for them and sponsor this program for them. I see STEM playing a large role in the game of hockey. I think this would be a great way for students to learn about the transfer of power from the player to the stick. As well as creating and innovating in the equipment used in Hockey.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I would want to be a defensive player because I feel like they are the unsung heroes.
