Tell us about yourself!

I am a 4th grade teacher at Abraham Lincoln Elementary in Wenatchee, Washington. I have been teaching for 24 years. I became a teacher to help students see their potential and become whatever they want to become. I love the challenge of finding what interests students and sparks their learning. I coach Girls on the Run at my school. I help with the AWANA program at my church. I am on commitees at my school and I am on the local PTA board at my school as well. I have two daughters that are in high school in Wenatchee and my husband is a nature and wildlife photographer. I grew up in Nebraska with two parents who were also teachers and a dad that coached for 45 years.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Chris Driedger/ Philipp Grubauer. I like the goalies protectors and defenders of the net.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I see STEM in the game of hockey from how the game is played to how the equipment is made and used on the ice. Every play has an aspect of STEM involved; how the puck moves on the ice and the speed at which is it hit, the skater stopping and shooting. and of course the goalie stopping the puck from going in. The reason the Zambonie needs to come out to clean the ice and make it smooth again and frictionless so the puck will travel faster is a STEM concept.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Goalie – always defending and protecting
