Please write a short bio about yourself and your teaching career!
My name is Kelly Jones. I have been teaching for 27 years. I became a teacher because of the passion for sports and my high school PE teacher. He was a great mentor to me. I love it when the “lightbulb” comes on and a student finally understands the skill being taught. I love that I can be a bright-spot in student’s day and hearing “I’ll see you later today, Coach”. Because I am always trying to bring experiences to our students, we are a Special Olympics school, Fuel Up to Play 60 School, participate in the Kid’s Heart Challenge, and have adopted a cow (virtually)
Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?
Kucherov, because he sees the entire ice, is highly skilled due to the immense work he puts in and he is self-less in his passing.
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
I love that our students can use the game of hockey to understand math and science. It’s fun to watch them as they go through the lessons and start to understand things like speed and force.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
Left wing. I like to score!
