Please write a short bio about yourself and your teaching career!

Over 10 years ago, I was working in video production. I felt in my soul that I wanted to do something more important, to make a difference in people’s lives. I prayed about it. Then in a dream, I was asked if I would be a teacher. The next day, a friend asking me if I would take over his teaching job. I accepted and now I teach 9th – 12th grade. It’s extremely challenging and amazingly rewarding. I especially believe CTE Business courses help prepare students to be successful in life matters. In my spare time, I volunteer to visit home bound elderly people and sponsor 2 clubs at school.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

My favorite Tampa Bay Lightning player is Andrei Vasilevskiy. I am impressed how someone 6’4” is so fast and agile. I admire how he can use his size to protect the goal. He seems to analyze and predict where the shots are going to come from.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I love how Future Goals shows the practical, real life use of Newton’s Laws of Motion. Even students who are not sports lovers can see exactly how hockey utilizes science and math to be successful, and the sports lovers are able to see how science and math can be applied to their favorite sport.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I’d be a goalkeeper. There is less contact with other players. It would be fun to block the puck. “A strong, safe goalkeeper allows the team to play more offensively and strengthens their back in critical situations.
