Tell us about yourself!

I have been teaching for 19 years. I am currently teaching 6th grade Math and Science. I became a teacher because education is the key to the survival of our country. You can’t just think the next teacher will solve the problem. You have to step up with every student every day! I Science is key to unlocking the world around a student. Hands on science is the key to understanding science.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I like how excited the students are to be doing something affiliated with a local sports team. The students learn what takes place at the stadium to prepare for a game. They learn that there is more to a team than just the players and the coach.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Shane Doan is my favorite Coyote of all time. He was there at the beginning and helped to influence the fans to embrace the Yotes. Arizona hockey fans loved our Roadrunners and Mustangs. It made it more difficult to market a team with more expensive tickets. Shane brought a positive personality to the valley to win fans over.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Unfortunately, I would never play. Just like most people my age that grew up in the valley, we never learned to ice skate. Roller skating foe sure, but not the ice.
