Why did you decide to become a teacher?

Education is a prominent occupation for both sides of my family. My grandfather was a chemistry teacher and then a principal for 26 years, my uncle was a teacher/principal, and my mother taught pre-school. I have two aunts and many cousins in education as well. Education and coaching sports was a natural decision, and I am proud to be a teacher.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

The greatest moments are when ex-students return to the middle school to say “hi” and talk about their own successes, as well as the moments they remember best about 8th grade.

What is your favorite part of Future Goals?

I think the program is appealing for many kids who are not naturally drawn to science. The use of sports to teach different aspects of science is a great draw. The lessons incorporate useful simulations and check for student understanding. My class uses the future goals mostly to promote physics learning, but to display how science is in everything we do.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

My students enjoyed the course and they liked being able to control their learning.

Who is your favorite player?

Patrice Bergeron & Charlie Coyle. Charlie Coyle is from my town(Weymouth) and his mother taught my son in pre-school. Patrice and Charlie because they do a lot for the communities surrounding Boston and are great leaders/role models.
