Tell us about yourself!

I’m a north shore resident and an avid Bruins Fan. In college, I took an internship developing engineering curriculum for the Museum of Science and I have been hooked on project-based learning ever since. For 9 years, I have been teaching as a STEM Specialist to 6-8th graders at the Stoneham Central Middle School. What I love most are the creative hands-on projects that students build to demonstrate content knowledge. The students themselves are the best part of teaching. They make work a fun place to be. In addition to teaching STEM in class, I am the town Robotics Coach, and work as a teaching consultant helping other PLTW educators across the state.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Brad Marchand, because he buts 100% into the game. He is smaller that most of his opponents and has amazing stick skills.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

There are several features of the Future Goals program that I find amazing. In particular, the program allows students to connect to real-world examples of STEM with the infusion of high interest, such as sports (especially the Bruins). As an Engineering teacher, I see so many science and math concepts incorporated into the strategies and technologies that the players use to play and improve the game.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I would play right or left wing because that offense position is what I enjoyed playing in sports growing up.
