Why did you decide to become a teacher?

My family has a history in education, my dad was a professor. I was also inspired by my high school auto mechanics teacher.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

There have been so many. Seeing my students go on to successful careers is always great. Being selected as the recipient of the North American Council of Automotive Teachers/SEMA award and getting to attend the SEMA show in Las Vegas was awesome. I was also selected as the NYS advisor of the year for SkillsUSA in 2020 which was another memorable moment.

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

I like that Future Goals shows students how math and science relate to real world situations. It works in the same way that we relate these principles in career and technical education.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

They really seemed to enjoy the experience. Many times it’s like pulling teeth to get students to participate. This was something that was easy to get students to buy into.

Who is your favorite hockey player?

Jake McCabe. He plays defense like I did!
