Tell us about yourself!

I have been teaching for 13 years. Currently I teach 2nd grade. I love this age! The kids are curious about everything and just want to learn about everything in their world! I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference, I was fortunate to have some amazing while I was in school and they inspired me to work with kids. What I love the most about teaching is the light bulb moments! Some days are very frustrating and we try so hard and then they get it! I love that moment! Because I am in a Title-1 school I support the kids in anyway that I can-I’m their cheerleader, counselor, and sometimes their financial support. I work a lot with my own kids sports teams in the community, helping out how I can. As well as helping my husbands baseball team as I can.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Nathan MacKinnon, I have loved watching him grow as a player, he was so young when he was drafted and we have had the chance to watch him grow and learn!

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

My kids love this program! I can’t get them off once we start! One of my favorite things they have learned is how we sometimes don’t hit the puck with all we have and we still succeed! So many kids put it at full force and can’t figure out why it doesn’t work. This is true for life too! We can’t always do everything with hard and make it work sometimes we have to adjust things to make it work.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Defensemen: I think one of my strengths is anticipating problems. So knowing what problems that will happen and moving in the right direction before they happen much like Defensemen do when they anticipate the movement of the other team and try to stop them before they score.
