Tell us about yourself!

I am a 6th grade science teacher at Carteret Middle School, currently in my 10th year in the classroom and this is the most rewarding career I could have ever chosen. I love being a teacher because all people have a curiosity to them and I believe that it is my purpose in life to assist my students in finding ways to assuage that curiosity, and to continue to grow into the people they are destined to be. Thru the school community, I am the head of the safety patrol/student response team, where we not only educate the school on safety protocols, but we work on making our community better one small project at a time. This school year we have focused on making hats from yarn for a domestic violence shelter. Outside of school, I teach both high school for adults going back to school and a GED program to assist adults in getting the education they need for their high school equivalency.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Claude Giroux, he is an outstanding player who I have watched compete for many years now. He is also a very nice and down to earth person.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

My favorite part of the Future Goals program is that the students have hands on activities to assist them in learning science concepts, and yet it feels like they are playing a game, so they look forward to working on each new part.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Center because the centerman is the leader on the ice, being in the classroom is all about leading your students to allow them to find their own path to success.
