Tell us about yourself!

With 21 years of teaching experience, I’m a dedicated K-5 technology teacher in my first year at a new school. Passionate about shaping young minds, my journey began with a deep desire to positively influence children’s lives. Throughout my extensive career, I’ve nurtured students and supported colleagues, fostering a collaborative educational environment.

Beyond the classroom, I’m actively involved in my children’s lives. My teaching philosophy centers on inspiring and motivating every child under my care. With two decades of experience in another district, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective, significantly contributing to the educational landscape, leaving an indelible mark on students and colleagues alike.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

Future Goals is interactive and fun. It allows the user to develop a deep understanding of the physics of the game, analyzing player statistics, and exploring the technology used in equipment and sports analytics. Students learn about concepts like force, motion, angles, statistics, and data analysis while developing a deeper appreciation for the science and technology behind the sport.

Who is your favorite NHL player?

Henrik Lundqvist would be my favorite NY Rangers goalie. His stellar career with the team from 2005 to 2020 showcased remarkable skill and consistency. Lundqvist’s dedication and leadership, coupled with his numerous accolades, including being a Vezina Trophy winner, make him a standout player. His impact off the ice, through charitable work, further solidifies him as a beloved figure, making Lundqvist my top choice among NY Rangers players.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

If I played hockey, I would choose to be a goalie. This choice is influenced by my daughter’s experience as a softball catcher. Much like a softball catcher, a goalie is a pivotal position responsible for stopping opponents from scoring. I appreciate the strategic and defensive aspects of the game, and as a goalie, I would relish the challenge of making crucial saves to protect the team. They both requiring quick reflexes, keen spatial awareness, and a strong defensive mindset.
