Tell us about yourself!

I have been teaching at Charles Boehm Middle School for 30 years. I taught 7th and 8th grade and my courses have covered biology, ecology, earth science and physical science. I decided to become a science teacher because I have always enjoyed working with students and science is my passion. I wanted to represent women in the field of teaching science as there were few female science teachers. I have served in my community as a Sunday school teacher, the director of VBS for 5 years, and served in women’s ministry events. I enjoy cheering for the Philadelphia Union, and spending free time outside on walks or at the beach.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

As a science teacher, I like how the lessons are differentiated for different levels of learners, motivate students to achieve levels with the trophies, and cover different branches of science with anatomy, chemistry, and energy. It’s a nice way to review concepts for PSSA practice in a fun way. The pre and post test help students master the concepts presented in each section. The program uses technology to access and ties in many science concepts from different branches. Looking at the design of equipment ties in engineering and analyzing data and graphs help build math skills. It is a well-designed program.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Defender!
