Tell us about yourself!

I’ve been teaching for 23 years and currently teach SEL to grades 6, 7 and 8. I choose to become teachers because I have a passion for sharing knowledge and helping others become lifelong learners. The most rewarding thing about being a teacher is when you witness the students get excited when they achieve personal goals whether it is in the classroom or out of it.  Building strong relationships with students and seeing them develop character is also very gratifying.Outside of school I am a High School Basketball coach and work for the Jr. 76ers summer basketball program. I have been involved in the Vineland community for years working for the local YMCA as summer camp director and winning such awards as the SJ Youth Alliance Legends award.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™ program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

My favorite part of the future goals program is that it is a very interactive gameplay, which the students love, and it teaches real life concepts. It uses Hockey to teach math and science skills. STEM has a significant presence in the game, both in its equipment and its analytics. The students also see how they can broaden their minds when they look at possible future careers. It has so many things that relate to all of the core subjects especially Science, Technology, Engineering.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

If I were to play hockey, I would like to play defense. Defensemen are responsible for helping to guard their team’s goal and preventing the opposing team from scoring.
This position requires strong defensive skills, good physical strength, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. These I am good at. If I could only skate.
