Why did you decide to become a teacher?

As the second oldest of 9 children, I enjoyed working with my younger siblings and watching them as they learned. I love science and enjoy spreading that love to others. There are times when I too learn something new and it is very rewarding watching a new generation become passionate about science.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

One of my most memorable moments was when a former student came back and told me that I was their favorite teacher-even after he had graduated college! He had even majored in a science field in college!

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

I love that it makes science accessible. It allows the students to see scientific concepts in action and how science can be used beyond the classroom! I also like that it allows the students to think like scientists, making hypothesis and gathering data. I am using it to supplement curriculum or review content.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

The students enjoyed the videos and the interactions. They had a lot of fun and i received great feedback! Students were certainly excited about the connection to the Pittsburgh Penguins!

Who is your favorite hockey player?

My favorite player is Jake Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Not only is he an amazing and talented player, he was so kind to my son when he played along side him during a Penguin Prospect camp at the Oakmont Dek rink.
