Tell us about yourself!

I’m a hockey mom and teacher. for the last 19 years I have taught elementary from 3rd grade to 6th. This year I am branching off into unknown with a completely gifted classroom. I have taught HiCap before but this year we opened a brand new school and program. Why I became a teacher and wha I love about teaching are very much one in the same. It is seeing the love of learning in any way, shape or form. It can be in art, reading, love of insects, but having that passion is exciting. My family is involved in 4 different hockey associations and billet with the Seattle Thunderbirds too.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

If I’m being honest it is that I can integrate hockey into my academics. I see STEM in the game of hockey through math: angles, distance, area. Science:state of matter, friction, simple machines, velocity and speed. Engineering: skate and pad design, and technology: replay, the twin jumbotrons, music.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I did learn to play, but I love goalie position because of the complexity of it.
