Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I had many inspiring teachers in my lifetime, including my mother, my 4th grade teacher, and one of my college professors who inspired me to become a teacher.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

A former 3rd grade student of mine reached out to me about 10 years after I was her teacher to say thank you for how I treated her and for being such a good teacher. As a teacher, you just never know the impact you are making on a student!

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

I really like how it is self paced/self graded. The realistic visual effects make it super engaging and the fact that it relates a popular sport in our area to math and science is definitely a huge learning benefit!

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

My hockey fans were very excited. As they worked through the modules, I could see some of the students using their hands holding an imaginary hockey stick to help them figure out the angle questions. It was very engaging.

Who is your favorite hockey player?

Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues! He is currently my favorite player because of his persistence to improve. He has had to overcome being benched, demoted, and had some poor performances, but has always strived to persevere. This is an attribute I want for all of my students!
