Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I love reading and writing and I love kids, so it was a great combination.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

I think my first year, when I was very young still, and one of my 8th graders got down on one knee with a flower and proposed to me. I was so embarrassed!

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

They love it! I was really surprised that it wasn’t really just my hockey kids or just boys, but all the kids were really engaged and loved it. I love that it brings together hockey (which a lot of my kids love and play), real world connections, and games. This leads to them doing “hard things” without knowing it! They enjoy learning and are so engaged. It was also pretty timely this year since they won the Stanley Cup and everyone was talking hockey here!

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

Braden Point #21, because he’s fast and good with the puck.
