Please write a short bio about yourself and your teaching career!

I teach 4th grade and have been an educator for 15 years. I have worked in Hillsborough County for all 15! Over the years, I have worked in various roles and grades including a district coach for new teachers. I became a teacher because I love learning and working with kids. I was inspired by my own 5th grade teacher Mrs. Bridges who showed me that learning could be challenging and exciting all at the same time. I am the parent of a 10 year old and we love spending our weekends at the local baseball field. My son plays for Land O Lakes and love it! I am on the school PTA board and I am the merchandise chair. In my spare time I work with the professional development department and the reading departments to write curriculum and train teachers on new teaching methods.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

I like Steven Stamkos. I think he has brought an excitement to Tampa about hockey and provides a good model for kids.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I love how interactive the program is. Students are making real world connections and see that math and science is all around them. It helps keep them excited and invested in learning when they know it goes beyond the classroom.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I would be the goalie. I like that they have lots of extra pads! They also play a very critical role and I do well in high pressure situations.
