Tell us about yourself!
I have been teaching for 24 years, mostly in 6th grade. I became a teacher to help others. I love the independence of the 6th graders, and how their personalities are really taking shape at this age. I live in the community that my students come from and participate in community based activities with my own family. My children also attended school in the district where I teach, so I am invested in the programs provided.
Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?
Brent Burns because of his work with the community and his investment in education.
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
I love how it brings the mathematical aspect of the game of hockey to the kids level. They can learn that angles and force are hugely important in getting the puck to go where you want it to go.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
Water Girl? Contact sports and losing teeth are fun to watch, but I don’t think I would be brave enough to actually play! But if I had to choose I would be a defenseman because they are not on the front line.
