Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I have always loved learning (exploring, testing, trying, creating, etc.) and have always enjoyed working with children. To me, it was the perfect career for my passions!

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

Well, I’m sure if you ask any teacher they will tell you there are too many to list, but I love the moment your student(s) “get it”. There is a look on their face that fills your heart because you know you are in the right place doing the right thing.

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

I love how interactive it is and very user friendly. It allows me to simultaneously use it with my brick and mortar students and with my eLearners. We used the Science program to review scientific process. The students loved talking to each other about what they were learning and comparing results. We have also been using the math program. Some of the students are so eager to use the program they have gone ahead on their own; using the program lessons to help them learn topics we haven’t covered in class yet.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

They have been super excited. As I stated above, some are learning the topics we haven’t covered on their own time so that they can move forward. They felt very accomplished when they heard we’d been recognized by Future Goals.

Who is your favorite hockey player?

Andrei Vasilevskiy. I was never a hockey player, but I was a goalie on my soccer team as a child. I admire the dedication and concentration it takes to stop a goal. There is a lot of pressure on you to not let down your teammates…you can’t lose as long as you don’t let the other team score.
