This is Mrs. Cortez’s 14th year as an educator and her first as a Gifted Resource Teacher! She became a teacher to make a difference in the lives of children. Mrs. Cortez puts relationships first and believes in making learning hands-on, personalized, and fun!

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Ovechkin all the way! He is a team player and always plays hard!

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I love how it engages students with a new way of seeing math and science in the real world. Hockey is filled with math and science from the angles, to the friction. It’s everywhere.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I used to play field hockey and was a defensive center!
