Minnesota Wild October 2022 Teacher of the Month
Tell us about yourself!
I have been teaching middle school science for 24 years and am a huge hockey fan so Future Goals fits well in my classroom. I teach 8th grade science where we covered the chemistry of thermal energy, states of matter and the physics of mechanical energy. I became a teacher to share my love of science with young students that are interested in applying science content to their own experiences. Future Goals helps with that objective.
Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?
Kirill Kaprizov – he is a “thrill” to watch
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
I have been using the science module in my class for years. I is an exciting and interesting way to learn about thermal energy and physics which can be difficult for middle school students. They enjoy the simulations and winning the Stanley Cup!
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
Goalie – I have watched my son play goalie over the years and I like the grit and mindset the position needs to be successful, win or lose.
