Why did you decide to become a teacher?

To try and teach children that learning can be fun!  The more you put into it, the more you get out of it!

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

Honestly, each day is my most memorable.  I try to make each day the most important teaching day of my career.   Every day is a new opportunity to reach a student that does not like school or does not understand why education is so important.  I try to capture that one moment each day when a student makes that connection.   Overall, seeing former students go on to college and/or become successful in whatever they dreamed or doing is also incredibly memorable.

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

My favorite part is Future Goals – Science – I love the program because most of the students love the program.  It is hands-on interactive learning and uses real world challenges and skills.  Students see first hand the cause and effect of what we have learned in class and can carry those skills over to the lessons.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

Overall, very positive!  Most love the fact that learning is based around a sport, which they deem as fun!   There are a few who find some of the lessons difficult, but if they stick with it and apply what they have learned, they are able to complete it.

Who is your favorite player?

That’s a tough one….Mathew Barzal stands out the most, but Cal Clutterbuck and Casey Cizikas are right there too.  All play hard, every second of every shift.   Barzal just stands out because of his skill level and stick handling and he will only get better!
