Pittsburgh Penguins February 2023 Teacher of the Month
Tell us about yourself!
I have taught for 22 years, and I currently am teaching fourth grade Science. What I enjoy most about teaching students is watching them make a life connection with the curriculum. I run an After-School STEM Club in which students in fourth and fifth grade apply skills in an engineering environment. I also run a Camp Kon-O-Kwee trip where our students learn outdoor skills that can applied to their lives while giving them an appreciation of nature and its relevance to our future.
Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?
Sidney Crosby! His passion for life, commitment to his career and humble, caring attitude make him a worthy player on and off the ice!
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
Future Goals creates student engagement in a fun and exciting way because all students love hockey, and especially Pittsburgh Penguins! This has allowed students to apply the skills taught in the classroom.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
Forward: I am competitive in nature, so making those scores will be my main focus!! Of course, I would need my other team players to assist me as well!
