Tell us about yourself!

I teach 8th Grade ELA and Social Studies. I have been teaching for 12 years. I was blessed to have some of the best teachers as a student. When I started tutoring some kids I started to realize that this was something I wanted to do. Then after completing my degree, and working full time, I am convinced that this is what I want to do. The difference I can make in the lives of the students is what I love the most. I want to let the students know that with a little bit of will and determination, they can be successful and no one can stop them from moving forward. I strongly believe in teaching them to reflect on all their learning and action. Outside school, I work with a group of teenagers in publishing a foreign language magazine. They are given an opportunity to work with other teenagers as an editorial team and I enjoy watching them come up with new ideas to improve the process.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Lawson Crouse. He is my son’s favorite player 🙂

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

My favorite part of the Future Goals and Future Smart program is the practical aspect of what they learn. With these teenagers, it is very important to show that whatever they learn, has a real-life practical application. As they were using the programs, I could see that they are able to understand the connection. These programs are an answer to the question WHY which teenagers have every time they have to learn something.
