Tell us about yourself!

I’ve been teaching fifth grade for 23 years. I decided to become a teacher because of my experience working at a preschool in college and to honor my grandmother who was also a teacher for many years. What I love most about teaching is working students and helping them reach those aha moments. Nothing gives me the same kind of joy as when I see the look in a student’s eyes the moment they truly understand something. I’ve also been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over ten years which is as rewarding as teaching.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Dominik Hasek because he revolutionized the goaltender position. He is one of the reason I was a Sabres season ticket holder for 21 years. We sat at the end of the ice he defended twice to watch his amazing saves.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

The digital format makes it easy for my students to complete the games and for me to track their progress. I was amazed when I first learned how much STEM is involved with the game of hockey. I’ve watched hockey for years and my sons both played, but I never really thought about the STEM connection until I experienced the Future Goals program.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Defense because I like to protect/defend and stop my opponents.
