Florida Panthers Teacher Highlight and Most Valuable Teacher February Nominee!
Why did you decide to become a teacher?
I have always wanted to help people. I first wanted to be a police officer but I started substitute teaching out of college and fell in love with the profession. I feel that many students need positive role models and I want to be that for them.
What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?
My most memorable time for me was when I was nominated by my faculty at one of my previous schools as teacher of the year. I do not normally look for any accolades but this came from my peers. So it was very special to see them recognize me for how much I love what I do.
What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?
Future Goals is a real life curriculum. This is what I like so much about it. I use the programs as quarter grades. Each quarter I assign them one module. We do Character Playbook together because I feel that it is an important one when it comes to SEL.
What was your student’s reaction to the program?
They really love the activities. They did think that Endeavor was a little tricky but they are loving the Hockey Scholar Science and Math lessons right now.
Who is your favorite player?
Sergei Bobrovsky-Like I said I love the goalie position and I enjoyed watching him this year. He made some amazing saves that always kept the panthers in the game.
