Chicago Blackhawks December 2022 Teacher of the Month
Tell us about yourself!
I am a Physical Education Teacher. I have been working at the same school for 14 years, I have gotten to see the students grow up. I have them as students in kindergarten and then teach them every year after that until they graduate as eighth graders. That is definitely the best part of my job and why I keep doing it. I love watching the students grow and develop into healthy young adults. As a child I loved P.E. class. I like seeing children being active and knowing that I am helping them learn how to stay healthy.
Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?
Jonathan Toews. Not only that I like it him as a great Blackhawks player but I also like him for his Foundation with the Green Bronx Machine of having children grow their own vegetables in class using the Tower Garden.
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
My favorite part of Future Goals is that the students know that there are different jobs you can do surrounded by hockey and not only playing the sport.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
I would play goalie.
