Tell us about yourself!

This is my 28th year of teaching for the Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky. I have been at Bowen Elementary for 24 years. I became a teacher because I wanted to have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children, like my teachers did for me. I am currently the Digital Learning teacher at Bowen Elementary. I have been in this position for three years. I am passionate about learning the new trends in technology and sharing them with my students. I love engaging students and watching them show their creativity through technology. In my role, I show teachers how to implement technology that will help improve student learning. I am also a part-time real estate agent.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

Favorite Part – I love how the students see how hockey relates to what they are learning in science and math. Then, when they see how it relates to their own lives. I enjoy hearing about their reactions to the program and how they want to continue to do it! STEM – I learned, along with the students, about getting ready for a game; from preparing the surface to freezing the pucks since they are made from rubber. STEM is seen through learning about the States of Matter and the design of the equipment.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Oliver Bjorkstrand – he has very impressive stats.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I would play goalie – You get to save your team! They need you!
