Tell us about yourself!

I have been an Ohio-based educator for 24 years. I am currently a tech coach, Project Lead the Way instructor, technology teacher, and Academic Challenge coach at the middle school level in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District. I enjoy the “I got it!” moments in both my own child’s life and my students’ lives. That spark is worth it all. I am a garden manager in my hometown, collaborating with 19 gardeners in our community garden, active in the PTO at my child’s school, as well working on committees at our church. I am a Wife, Mommy, Educator, Science Geek, Bicyclist, Animal-lover, and all-around Martha Stewart-ish woman!

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

It is often difficult to hook some of the student’s interests in STEM class. BUT, we have a large hockey-playing population in our district, so bringing together topics that they care about (hockey/sports) with topics that are required to teach (angles, momentum, design) are ideal because it can help hook those students on the outlying edges and maybe even lead them into some further studies with STEM.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

If I played hockey, I would choose to play goalie because I could play off falling on skates as merely protecting my goal.
