Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I wanted to help kids to become lifelong learners and love to learn.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

Having my students learn new STEM Concepts. We have had NASA engineers visit the class to talk about careers and what it is like to send people to Mars. My students worked with an outreach program to develop their own Mars colony and understand the basic needs of all living things.

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

I love the interactive lessons and how easy it is to use in the classroom. While my students struggle with math in general, they are able to complete these lessons and see success in themselves. Many students learn better from the real life application (from sports) than they do from a textbook.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

While most of them groaned and complained about the idea of doing more math, they quickly changed their attitudes once they got to play with Future Goals

Who is your favorite hockey player?

My favorite NHL player is Steve Yzerman!
