Tell us about yourself!

Hello my name is Megan Lanceleve and I am a Grade 6 teacher in Cold Lake, AB. I am currently in my 5th year of teaching and I teach Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Health, Religion and Art to 24 amazing students. I originally was not certain I wanted to be a teacher, however, through a program at the University of Alberta I had the opportunity to work in schools and discover my passion for teaching. One thing I love about teaching is building relationships with my students and seeing them grow as individuals as the year progresses. I am currently involved in my local community by being an assistant coach for the Senior Girls Volleyball Team at our local high school. I also coach club volleyball and volunteer within my local community. Living and working in a rural community has shown me the importance of community and always being there to support one another in all areas of life.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

My favourite NHL player is Marc Giordano because of his work in the community through his foundation Team Giordano.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

My favourite part of the program is that it keeps students engaged as it is centered around hockey but they are learning valuable STEM skills and thinking critically while having fun. One area I see STEM in hockey is through the understanding of kinetic energy and how each player needs to do different things to reach their maximum kinetic energy to be successful.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
