Tell us about yourself!

I have been teaching at Lacombe Junior High for the past 8 years. I have taught almost all subjects in grade 7 and 8. Currently I am teaching grade 7 science and math, and grade 8 social studies. Outside of teaching at school I also help out with the school GSA and help coach Reach for the Top, the best extracurricular activity! I decided to become a teacher after enjoying school myself and having many great teachers along the way. I thought it would be great to help inspire the next generation to go after their dreams and help them achieve all that they are capable of.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Currently, Connor McDavid. He does things no one else could. All time, Pavel Bure because he scored many highlight reel goals and had the best nickname “The Russian Rocket.”

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

It is a great program to use for students who may need enrichment in STEM and for students who are interested more in sports and less in traditional schooling. STEM is integral to the game of hockey, from the science to keeping the ice just right to the math of calculating angles for perfect bank passes to the physics of snapping a shot top shelf or making a great stack the pad save.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I have played hockey almost my whole life and I was a goalie. Being the goalie I get to set the tone for the team and be a calming presence in behind the team. I also like that you can show more of your personality as a goalie through your equipment.
