Tell us about yourself!

I teach Introduction to IT Careers, Coding Fundamental and Computer Fundamentals to 6, 7 and 8th graders. I have been teaching for 14 years. I became a teacher to share my passion for learning, and to help students to learn and grow to their fullest potential, I want my student to know if they believe it they can achieve it. I sponsored two coding clubs at my school:Girls who Code and Coding for Everyone. I also enjoy participating in our schools student mentoring program. When I am not with my students I enjoy participating in 5k & 10k run/walks involving fundraising for multiple causes such as the Epilepsy Foundation, Breast Cancer Awareness, Miami Transplant foundation and others.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Spencer Knight with the Panthers, because he was the second youngest goaltender to win his post season debut. It just oges to show you that age doesnot matter, if you want something and you work hardd at it you can acheive greatness!!

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I love that FG’s it uses hockey to teach STEM in a creative, fun and memorable way, my students can’t stop talking about it!!

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Goaltender because by nature I feel the need to “protect” just like a goaltender, In my classroom I always try to stear away negative talk and give my students the sence of importance,I help to guide them and let them know that they MATTER!! so in a way I feel like I “protect” them from negativity and promote positvity.
