Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I was an EMT for 13 years and felt that I could serve my community in a different capacity. My wife also inspired me since she is a well-loved teacher in the community as well. I wanted to follow in her footsteps as well.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

When former students and their parents contact me telling me how they are doing.

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

The interactive features. They teach the student without the student realize they are being taught. Plus it also shows real-world concepts like financial responsibility- skills that kids should learn about.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

They loved it!!! They love to share their scores with each other and relate prior knowledge to the concepts. For example, they remembered the protractors from 4th grade when they were working on the “Passing the Puck” exercise and had a LOT of fun with that one!

Who is your favorite hockey player?

It’s between Jeff Carter and Dustin Brown. Carter- he’s a hitter and doesn’t make scoring look hard. Brownie because he’s a great leader on the ice and a passionate player. He has a lot of heart!
