Tell us about yourself!

I have been teaching for 25 years. I am currently a sixth grade teacher and I teach all subjects. As a teacher, I find it ironic that I didn’t enjoy school during the majority of my education. Growing up as one of the only students of color in a predominately white school was extremely difficult for me. I didn’t enjoy school until my senior year of high school. I had one teacher who changed my life! He developed a relationship with me and showed me that school could be something to look forward to through his fun lessons and great sense of humor. He also taught me to be proud of my culture and race. That year I decided to be a teacher and strive to be a teacher just like him.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

My favorite NHL hockey player is Brad Bombardir. He visited my classroom about 15 years ago! He was a wonderful player and a nice man. If I had to pick a current player, I would pick Mats Zuccarello because he is very talented and fun to watch!

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I love how the Future Goals program is hands-on and motivational! Students are having fun and learning at the same time. STEM is everywhere, especially in the game of hockey. Acceleration, Area, Newton’s Laws, Angles, temperature, Speed/Distance/Time and more!

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I would be a goalie because I am unable to skate backwards.
