Minnesota Wild November 2023 Teacher of the Month
Tell us about yourself!
It is fun watching students learn and then discover new things. In my classroom I have a number of vintage items such as a rotary dial phone. Students discover how technology has evolved and where is it going, as they are our future. My grandson plays hockey at the local rink [Rushmore Thunderdome]. Our rink is volunteer run, and I have spent a lot of time there. Some of the skaters at the rink have also been my students in the classroom. No matter if they go right into the work force, trade school or college. It has been an exciting journey to be a part of so many lives. To know I made a difference. I have had students come back and tell me that they appreciated me pushing then to do more, to do better. And to help gather the confidence to be successful.
Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?
Wayne Gretzky. He had an uncanny nack for knowing where everyone was on the ice at any given time. This was before everything was video taped. Also very humble.
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
We are use the math skills to help build on coding skills for our Edison robots.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
Goalie. Lots of padding. A great goalie can make or break a game.
