Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I have a passion for teaching. Since I was young I always wanted to become a teacher. My sister at a young age was diagnosed with a disability and I felt the need to make a difference. I enjoy helping and giving my students the strategies they need to follow their dreams and goals. Every child brings something special to my classroom. I love learning new things with them and I thank my sister every day for making me the teacher I am today.

What has been your most memorable moment as a teacher?

Most memorable has to be last year! 2020! Having to learn and teach through zoom and having an outside red carpet walkthrough graduation for our students. All my students showed up in front of my house to surprise me after our last virtual breakfast. I wanted to hug them so hard!

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

Many lessons planned on different subjects that interest different learning styles. Everfi has allowed students to practice different math concepts without realizing they were doing math. I plan on using it more this year.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

They enjoyed the many games. They didn’t even realize they were doing math.
