Tell us about yourself!

I’ve been a middle school science teacher for 25 years. I became a teacher because I wanted to help others learn while making them feel successful in my classroom. I enjoy my job, not just the academics, but all of the responsibilities that come with being a teacher. I currently volunteer in my community by participating in donation drives for senior citizens. I also donate to less fortunate students in my school during our “Holiday Giving Tree”. I am involved with food donations for a local food pantry, and run a fundraiser for Howell Historical Society. Having had a tough childhood, I like to make my students feel like they can be successful no matter what their circumstances are. I want to inspire them to never give up. My daughter’s story is inspiring, as she almost died at birth and currently plays division 1 softball with a 3.9 GPA.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

It is interactive and the kids enjoy playing games-they are learning with this one! We discuss scientific concepts such as force, energy, friction, motion, etc.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Jack Hughes-he is a leader on the ice and has impressive stats. He is also my daughter’s favorite!

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

I would play goalie because I was a goalie when I played soccer.
