Pittsburgh Penguins January 2024 Teacher of the Month
Tell us about yourself!
I teach 7th and 8th grade science. We have been using Everfi Future Goals for the past 5-6 years in conjunction with our physical science unit. Since 5th grade, I have always wanted to be a school teacher. I worried that my Late blooming because of mild dyslexia and bad eye-hand coordination may have meant I could not become a teacher. I did ok in high school but much much better at Slippery Rock University. I have worked for McGuffey for the past 34 years. This is my HOME! I help with the Marching Band and I am the public address announcer for McGuffey football, soccer, and wrestling. thank you
Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?
MAX TALBOT. We had a student dying of cancer and he showed up at her bedside. Need I really say more? He will always be my favorite because he made one of my favorite student’s life a little brighter. God Bless MAX. That said of course Syd and Mario are a close 2/3 thanks.
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
I get to be the shepherd in the learning process. the students are learning cool stuff by reading and playing games.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
Goalie… I can not skate well and I am not Finnish. but, hey I am a bid guy i could fill up the net and block pucks with my body
