San Jose Sharks January 2023 Teacher of the Month
Tell us about yourself!
This is my 13th year teaching 4th grade. I really love this grade because the students are still young enough to want to do fun things while old enough to be pushed a little further. I teach all subjects but really enjoy Novel study and bringing books to life for students. I am always looking for new programs and opportunities to provide my students. I became a teacher to make a difference and show kids that anything is possible you just need to work towards it. Besides teaching I run the school safety patrol, I am the safe routes coordinator, and I help run the book fair and other events and fundraisers. I grew up, went to school and sent my kids to schools in this district as a parent and teacher I have always been invoked and love to support the arts and stem programs.
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
My favorite part is the excitement in my students voices when they talk about the program, what they are learning and what they accomplished so far. To me math and science go hand in hand. And being able to connect sTEm to sports is a great way to get kids involved and interested in it.
