Tell us about yourself!

This is my 6th teaching. I teach 7th grade Math/Science at Ellen Ochoa Middle School in Pasco Washington. After getting out of Army I wanted to do something that made me feel like I was making a difference. My favorite thing about teaching is being around the kids and the interactions we have. I still remember my teachers who made a difference in my life and helped shape me into the person I am today. I want to be that for my students. I am also involved in coaching multiple sports. I have coached baseball, football, bowling, and volleyball.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

My favorite player is Carey Price. I got to watch him play for the Tri City Americans and have just continue following him throughout his professional career.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

My favorite part is how engaging the lessons are. My students love the lessons and anything that can keep my students engaged and learning is great. There are lots of Science and Math concepts that can be introduced and taught in Hockey. Kinetic energy and velocity, angles, and reflection laws are just a few that come to mind.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

If I played hockey I would be a goalie. I was a catcher in baseball so I think that would help me in learning how to be a goalie. I am not the best skater either so the more I can stay still is probably best.
