Seattle Kraken January 2024 Teacher of the Month
Tell us about yourself!
I received my MBA from UAF I have been teaching math for 23 years. I teach Algebra, Accounting 1 and Accounting 2. I was originally an Accountant for the City of Fort Collins, Colorado. My parents passed in 1996, so we moved to a small town in Northeast Colorado to care for my grandmother since my Mom was no longer able to. I could not get an accounting position so I passed the math praxis test and became a math teacher. I really love teaching because the students have so much energy and I enjoy seeing them get involved in their learning. I am also a teacher of AWANA for students of the age 4 and 5.
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
Seeing the students make connections with real life experiences using the math that I am teaching them.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
I would play goalie because I like taking shots to help the team.
