Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I decided to become a teacher because I am passionate about teaching the subject of Business and all the real world applications I can use. Business Education classes touch on so many aspects of the real world that my students can use for the rest of their lives. My favorite part of teaching is the relationships I have with my students. I love watching them learn and grow into young adults, and I enjoy being a lifelong learner!

What is your favorite part of Future Goals and how are you using it in your classroom?

My favorite part of Future Goals is being able to reinforce the core subjects of math and science into my curriculum. It gives students a fun and interesting way to learn about the sport of hockey. My seventh and eighth graders have all been working on the program these last few years, and it has helped them to understand crucial science and math concepts.

What was your student’s reaction to the program?

At first they were a little hesitant since they didn’t know much about hockey. Once they began the modules, they found it a fun and interesting way to practice math and science in a way that is exciting. Many have even become hockey fans since starting the programs!

Who is your favorite hockey player?

My favorite player is Vladimir Tarasenko, a right wing for the St. Louis Blues. He is a leading scorer and plays with great drive and passion. He is so fun to watch! Cheering on the Blues as they won the Stanley Cup was a great day here in Missouri. When Tarasenko placed his newest son in the Stanley Cup for a picture, I thought, “Wow! How great is that?!”
