Tell us about yourself!
I’ve been teaching for 20 years. I’ve taught middle school reading, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and am now teaching K-8 computers. Technology has always been a passion of mine and now I get to share that with kids of lots of different ages. We work on basics of typing, coding, graphic design, digital citizenship and more! While at a tech conference, I attended a session about Everfi about digital citizenship. I think it is a wonderful program! I also volunteer to run the school Speech Team and help the kids sing at our school Masses. Some volunteer work that I’m involved in outside of school is through my church. I help with the vacation bible school in the summer, sing with the church choir, and help lead the teen choir for the church. I also help with the youth group, food bank, scouts, and Humane Society..
What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?
I love that the Future Goals program incorporates hockey with science and math. By adding sports, something many middle school kids are excited about, science and math is now more fun! The kids really seem to enjoy the lesson with angles and how the puck reflects when hitting another object.
If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?
Goalie – I was never on an official hockey team, but I played street hockey with neighborhood kids. I always played the goalie because my mom thought it was the safest position!
