Tell us about yourself!

My name is Matt Jernigan and I have been teaching business and technology at Lebanon Middle School for 15 years. I became a teacher to make a positive impact on students through sports and technology. I love the relationships that I get to build with my students through class and also coaching. I have also been a soccer coach for Lebanon High School for 15 years as well. I have two boys named Brock and Jett and I have been married to my wife Kyleigh for 13 years.

Who is your favorite NHL® player and why?

Well it is not a current player, but I loved Wayne Gretzky. He was so hard working and tough. I loved watching him growing up.

What is your favorite part of the Future Goals™program? How do you see STEM in the game of hockey?

I love that Future Goals takes technology and education and combines it with sports. Kids love seeing how what they are learning can relate to a sport they love.

If you played hockey, what position would you play and why?

Bench, I don’t skate well!
